Thursday, April 9th, 2009I just finished reading Arty’s April 8 and 9 posts. Apparently, Randy is waiting for a new engine to arrive, so both planes are still parked near Van Horn, TX. Arty’s April 8 post has some awesome photos of the “wild West” and those of you who don’t know much about Arty, will probably find her short ramble about her life in today’s post interesting.

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009The current marker on Arty’s Spot is located near Van Horn, TX, close to Interstate 10 and U.S. Route 90. It’s been a thrill watching Arty and Randy’s Spot markers trace their routes across the U.S.
Late arrivals
Tuesday, April 7th, 2009I just checked Arty’s blog again and found two posts dated 6 April. Either I missed them this morning – pre-coffee ground fog effect – or the stiff headwind she and Randy have experienced slowed its arrival. 
For that matter, we’re having pretty strong winds in Maryland, too.

Monday, April 6th, 2009Arty posted a flight report about Sunday’s flight and finally connecting with Randy Simpson. When you check the two SPOTs today you may see Randy’s move ahead of and then back to Arty’s SPOT. Her Drifter flies a bit slower than Randy’s Carrera. Based on the two SPOTs for Arty and Randy, they are currently near Interstate 10 outside of Willcox, AZ. They are due east of Tucson and not far from the New Mexico state line. It will be interesting to read Arty’s next post and find out when and where Randy finally caught up with her. Watch this space. If Arty posts something this evening, I’ll post an update tomorrow morning.

Saturday, April 4th, 2009Some years back there was the comedy, “Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines.” Madcap pilots racing around the world for a trophy. I was reminded of the movie when I read today’s post at Arty’s blog. Apparently, flying buddy Randy is closing the gap between him and Arty as they continue their flight to Florida.
