Jonathan Bloom, the author of this web site/blog, has some timely and well-researched information about the food we waste. Interested in saving money? Want to help the hungry? Take a look at his web site.

Helping Out

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

It’s the beginning of a new month. Taking a break from work, I made my monthly food donation pick up and delivery. Elizabeth House, the local soup kitchen where I do volunteer work, received 100 pounds of food from LongHorn Steakhouse this afternoon. The popular local restaurant participates in the Food Donation Connection [FDC], a program that benefits both the donor and the homeless and hungry members of our local community. During these hard economic times, when some of us are more in need than others, it’s good to know there are organizations and local vendors willing to help. Consider acknowledging and supporting these folks. Food for thought.
